So far the text from Landrover. I got the pictures from a friend who took them at the Munich Motor Show (I think).
Now which of those modifications will show up in the series production if it ever will be produced?
'99MY Defender 90 - topless - This will surely not make it. But maybe a quick way to drop the windshield or to remove the doors.
TD5 manual engine torque increased from 300Nm to 375Nm (+25%) - This is from an optimized chip and you can have it already from the aftermarket
Galvanised chassis with strengthening plates and webbing - good idea, just 40 years late. Hopefully this goes into series
Four-pin locking cross-axle differentials - quick release centre mounted switching with ETC disable built-in - good idea but will probably not make it due to safety reasons
Modified suspension - gas discharged shock absorbers, uprated coil springs for improved articulation and vehicle height - Nice and easy to produce this may well see the serie production if the vehicle is not intended to make it to the States.
Unique 20" alloy wheels - too expensive
Unique tread pattern off-road terrain tyres - what's so special about those Michelin tires? Their size? You will never be able to air them down
ABS brakes - already in series
Ventilated front disc brakes - Already mounted since 10 years
ETC - Electronic Traction Control · HDC - Hill Descent Control with centre mounted quick- release switching - electronic gimics, nice as long as they work.
Heavy duty protection cage - too expensive for serial production if not requires by local laws (as the 110 in the USA)
Raised air-intake integrated into protection cage - see above
Detachable winch with front rear mounting points and in-board stowage - might make it as optional extra but I doubt for safety reasons
Flow through mesh intake grille - ugly, so it may well be produced
Long range fuel tanks protected by Rock Sliders (underbody protection) - nice, should already be mounted on all vehicles
GPS (Global Positioning System) - detachable - probably not into serial production
Full underbody protection - sump, diffs, gearbox, steering - should already be serie on all vehicles
Modified Side sills (rock sliders) - did somebody really notice how easy those aluminium foils crumble?
Modified utility fascia with contact breakers in lieu of fuses - ugly but the idea of circuit breakers is good
Recovery hooks - why aren't they already there?
Off-road Recovery kit · Fire extinguisher - optional extras
